Bondi Sushi
156 North 4th Street
“Bondi Sushi was born with the simple notion that life is better at the beach. Our simple menu of fresh fish allows you to take a moment and enjoy everyday leisure: whether you are dining with us at the Sushi Bar or at home.
We take the gifts from the sea and transform them into craveable dishes that uncomplicate life. Sit with us at the sushi bar for our elegant nigiri, hot and crispy hand rolls, unadulterated sashimi or craveable crispy rice. We invite you to sit back and relax while our chefs provide the escape.”
Calabrije’s
234 Starr Street (between Irving and Wyckoff)
“We are considered to be the Absolute Best Margarita in NYC by Grubstreet since 2018. We are all about good Mexican food and the best Margaritas: 21 flavors plus combinations, frozen or on the rocks and you can even get them to-go!
Do you want a Coconut-Blueberry Frozen Margarita with a Sugar Rim? We got it! You want a Rocks-Mango-Kiwi-Spicy Margarita? We got it too! At Calabrije’s you can create your own Marg! We use the best ingredients. We don’t use syrups or weird mixers – we make them all natural and with lots of love.
We bring Mexico to NYC in a casual, fun and relaxed way. With great music, beautiful decor and very cool vibes for anybody. You want a cool cozy place for a first date? This is it! If you are looking to party with your friends this is also the place.”
While at Calabrije’s, be sure to try any of the 21 Margarita flavors plus combinations. For food, try The Esquite, Potato and Chorizo Tacos, Birria Tacos, the Nachos with Chorizo, or the Chicken Mole Tacos.
Join them every Tuesday for Taco Tuesday with $2 off tacos, every Wednesday for Margarita Wednesday with $2 off margaritas, and every Sunday for Nacho Sunday: Classic Nachos half price!
Gertie
357 Grand Street
“GERTIE is a space for our community to gather and celebrate. It’s got a table for you to catch up with friends and family or simply sit with a drink and a snack at the bar.
What will you find at Gertie? Riffs on NY deli sandwiches + sides, and more Jew-ish diner inspired comfort food. Plus, we’ve got a fully stocked liquor bar with nostalgic boozy sodas inspired by Dr. Brown’s soda fountain, natural wines, local beers and fun specialty cocktails.
Come during our GERTIE After Dark Hours on Friday evening and order the Latkes, the Fried Pickles and the Tofu ‘Bahn Mi’ or the Beef Pastrami sandwich. Pair it all with our Dirty Gertie Martini or with our Gertie- Rita.”
Junior’s Cheesecake
386 Flatbush Ave.
“Welcome to Junior’s! Hail a taxicab anywhere in NYC and tell the driver, “Take me to the best cheesecake in New York.” Odds are you will end up at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues in Brooklyn, at Juniors.
Founded by Harry Rosen in 1950, Junior’s landmark restaurant is known as the home of New York’s best cheesecake. For decades, Brooklynites (and other New Yorkers) have come to eat, laugh, and kibbtiz (argue) over cheesecake. In the 1950’s, an entire generation came of age at Junior’s. Our cheesecake was as important as the Brooklyn Dodgers…the Fox Theater…Coney Island…Brighton Beach.
Today loyal customers still come- from all over and all walks of life. Famous mayors. Presidents. Hall of Fame athletes. Authors, singers, movie stars. In fact, it’s as true today as it was 73 years ago when we started, “You haven’t really lived until you’ve had cheesecake at Junior’s.”
Madeline’s
113 Franklin Street (between Greenpoint Ave and Kent Street)
“Madeline’s is a cocktail bar and event space located on Franklin Street in the heart of Greenpoint serving up an eclectic drink menu alongside elevated bar food classics. Come by yourself, with a friend, or with a group, we’ve got something for everyone!”
While at Madeline’s, be sure to try: The Madeline (their namesake cocktail, a riff on an espresso martini spiked with green chiles), The Polar Bear (an easy drinking mix of mezcal, pineapple, and aperol) and The 5th Dimension (an earthier, less bitter take on the classic negroni). For food, we recommend you order the waffle fry poutine, short rib nachos, or the fried chicken sandwich with miso aioli.
Check out the different events they have going on: Trivia every Tuesday at 7:00 PM, with lots of different subjects and lots of nonsense. Happy Hour everyday Tuesday to Saturday 5:00-7:00 PM, with $5 beer specials as well as $10 wines and classic cocktails. Also DJ’s every weekend starting at 9:00 PM!
Seamore’s
66 Water Street (between Main and Dock Street)
Seamore’s brings the ocean back to the urban table in a deliciously modern and healthy way for a reunion of city and sea. With plenty of good food, craft cocktails, and a great atmosphere, we’re the fish shack every city-dweller needs.
While at Seamore’s, be sure to try the Firecracker Cauliflower, Seamore’s Salad, Maine Lobster Roll, Montauk Dayboat Scallops, Squid Ink Pasta with Shrimp, Chicken Milanese, Seamore’s Cucumber Martini, or the Pier 75.ZA
Join them for Happy Hour Monday-Friday 3:00-6:00 PM, available through the entire restaurant. They offer Trivia on Thursdays at 7:00 PM in The Hull (sports bar downstairs from the dining room) and Sunday Funday – 1/2 price on select wine bottles, 4:00 PM-close!
